Msunduzi is a municipality in South Africa. Home to the burgeoning city of Pietermaritzburg in the Kwa-Zulu
Natal province.
A former outpost from colonial times, a diverse group of 600,000 people now live in Msunduzi. Pietermaritzburg is
dubbed by local officials as "City of Choice" in Msunduzi because of its approximity to the Durban, South Africa port;
it its a brief 60 minute

growing at above
average rates. Msunduzi has been studied by the United Nations for its efforts at reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS. Pietermaritzburg
has had success through a citywide partnership between local government officials, businesses, and citizens. In addition, Msunduzi
won an award from Harvard University's Government Innovators Network for its Pietermaritzburg-Msunduzi Inter-sectoral Anti-Crime
Network. This citywide program in Msunduzi was is an umbrella body established to co-ordinate anti-crime activities in the region.
